Local Policies
The State of Missouri has few policies in regards to combat-related issues . Most often, funding for any healthcare services for Veterans are through federal sources.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill is making great efforts to listen to the concerns of local Missouri Veterans and help those concerns be translated into action:
- Senator McCaskill is taking on the role as a mediator between the Congress and Veterans of Missouri to promote fully funded VA health services.
- Despite great services provided from the federal VA hospitals in Missouri, there are many dissatisfied Veterans. Senator McCaskill is trying listen to what the Veterans have to say and is trying to make any adjustments to policy in order to provide adequate care for Missouri's Veterans.
- She introduced Veterans Customer Satisfaction Program (VCSP).
- VCSP was proposed to improve communication between Veteran and the VA medical center, improve satisfaction of VA medical centers in Missouri, and improve the likelihood of Veterans to positively recommend the VA to other Veterans.
- More actions, such as the one initiated by Senator McCaskill, need to be taken in order to advocate for policy that benefits our local Veterans rather than prevent them from receiving the necessary care they need. Their occupational performance and participation should be restored to its fullest once they return from sacrificing and serving for our family and friends at war.
St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center
- Just this month, the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center has opened up a facility to treat PTSD.
- They are currently seeing service men who returned from Iraq and Afghanistan with symptoms of PTSD.
- Although not every VA medical centers have PTSD-specific facilities, it is a stepping stone of hopes for more facilities like this one.
